Originally developed within Badger Maps—a 95-employee SaaS company founded in 2012—Grid Squid started as an internal solution to a pressing problem. Seamless CRM integrations were critical to our product, but we initially relied on a third-party provider that lacked deep CRM expertise. Their system required extensive customization for each CRM, creating inefficiencies that became a major bottleneck as our customer base grew, making scaling slow and expensive.
We spent months exploring alternatives, but every third-party option came with some kind of deal-breaking trade off— some had good pricing but clunky APIs, others didn’t support the CRMs our customers relied on. Nothing met our needs.
Eventually we made the bold decision to build our own unified API. Our team had spent years becoming experts in CRM integrations, and with that expertise, we crafted the ultimate unified CRM API: scalable, efficient, and more abstracted than anything else on the market. Not only did it elegantly address our own technical needs, but it also unlocked new growth opportunities by enabling us to support more CRMs with less effort.
